New Workshop, New Team, New Kit

The first few months of 2025 have been among the busiest in our history. With over 60 live jobs on the books — the biggest order book we’ve ever had — we’ve been investing in the team, the tools, and the space to match.

Here’s what’s been happening behind the scenes.

A Second Workshop in Potters Bar

We’ve secured a lease on a new unit in Potters Bar, and we’ll receive the keys in mid-June. It’s smaller than our main site in Stevenage, but it provides the additional space we need as we continue to grow. The plan is to run a small team of three or four there, handling some of the more straightforward elements of fabrication and easing pressure on the Stevenage workshop.

It’s a significant step. The longer-term objective is to move to a larger single site, and the growth we’re seeing now makes that much more realistic.

Laser Cutter on the Way

We’ve just placed the order for a laser cutter, which is due to arrive in July. It’s something we’ve been considering for a while, and it should make a real difference to our production capability — faster, more precise in-house cutting rather than relying on outside suppliers. It complements the milling and turning work we already do and opens up new possibilities for finishing and detail work.

We also recently visited an engineering expo in Birmingham to scope out additional equipment for the Stevenage workshop. Nothing concrete yet, but we’re keeping our eyes open.

Four New Hires

The team has grown significantly this quarter. Rhys has joined as Workshop Manager, bringing experience and structure to the shop floor. Ellie is now in the office, handling procurement and order management. On the fabrication side, Josh and James have both joined as trainee fabricators.

That’s four new people in a short space of time. It changes the dynamic, but it’s the right move given where we are and where we’re heading.

5S and Workshop Organisation

We’re continuing to roll out 5S principles across the workshop — improving organisation, installing shadow boards, improving signage, and ensuring every tool and material has a proper place. It’s not glamorous work, but it makes a real difference to efficiency and workflow, especially as the team grows and the workshop gets busier.

Looking Ahead

The rest of 2025 is shaping up to be just as busy. We’re busy right through the summer, with major projects including the Boodles Townhouse on Old Bond Street running through to the autumn. Month on month, activity is increasing, and we’re continuously quoting for new work — eight new client enquiries came in just this past week. Take a look at our recent projects to see the kind of work we’re delivering.

It’s an exciting time for the business. More people, more capacity, more capability — and the work to fill them. If you’d like to discuss a project, get in touch.
